Paypass
Paypass is the contactless method of payment from MasterCard
first seen mainstream in November 2010 in the UK. Much like the Oyster
payment method this new system requires just a simple swipe of the card
close to the reading point. It takes credit card payments another step
closer to being a straight replacement for cash. Another big security
benefit is that the credit card remains in your had at all stages of
payment/authorisation, never leaving your sight. Once you start using your
card as you would cash you gain the benefit of a complete record of all
transactions, no matter how small not to mention in many instances the new
system is faster than using cash.
To use your new Paypass credit card look for this symbol:

If an establishment is not PayPass enabled then you will just pay in the older method of contact machine or paper method.
The actual method paying by PayPass requires a tap of your card within aproximetley one inch of the PayPass logo on the reader. PayPass uses a hidden embedded computer chip and radio frequency antennae. After you tap your PayPass at checkout, payment details are sent wirelessly to the MasterCard network. Moments after you tap, you will receive payment confirmation.
The card does not use a battery to enable the system. Secure encryption technology and Zero Liability protection means PayPass has the same safety level as traditional methods of payment. Purchases over a certain level still require a pin and/or signature.
