Smile Current Account

Review:
Smile sell themselves as being different because they believe that their approach to their customers is one of being totally open about all charges, nothing hidden, no restrictions, they are modern in outlook and ethical at its heart. Smile carry out their business in an ecologically sustainable fashion and have an online report you can download from their website detailing just how they achieve this. Smile claim their approach is different because unlike most banks driven by profits they are not quoted on the Stock Exchange and are part of the Co-operative Movement. The smile team is based in Stockport, near Manchester.
Smile current accounts have twice been voted "best online current account" by Guardian and Money Observer readers. And Moneywise have just voted Smile current accounts as "the best current account in Britain.

Once accepted for your Smile current account you will also receive a smile Visa debit card which you can use to withdraw up to £250 a day free of charge from over 32,000 LINK cash machines in the UK. It is also a £100 cheque guarantee card. If you need to swap your details, direct debits, standing orders etc. over from an old current account to  your new Smile current account then Smile will handle all that for you.
Smile will swap all your direct debits and standing orders for you and provide the letters you need to switch any payments you receive to smile. This process usually takes around 14 days. You can pay money into your Smile account electronically from bank to bank, by cash at any UK post office or Co-op Bank branch free of charge or can also pay money into some other bank's branches (although they may charge you for this). Cheques can be sent directly to Smile or paid in at any UK post office or Co-operative Bank branch. You can apply for a joint account as easily as applying for a single account.
